Bob Crockett argued before the Hermosa Beach City Council to oppose a resolution to declare a public nuisance and impose abatement measures that would essentially shut down a local CrossFit gym for noise and vibration complaints. The gym has implemented measures, such as padding and lowered music volume, to reduce noise to acceptable levels in the community. Despite complaints from a few vocal neighbors, the gym has received no noise or vibration citations. The City has failed to conduct any acoustics testing. The abatement measure has unreasonably banned outdoor running, Sunday operation, and use of free weights in a portion of the premises. The gym is faced with imminent shut down at the hands of the City and may take legal action.
