Deep Well Injection Site Averted in Stevenson Ranch

In March 2015, the Stevenson Ranch Homeowners Association (3700 members) hired Crockett & Associates to bring a California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) action against the Los Angeles County Sanitation District’s siting of a Class I deep well injection system near The Players Club golf course in the Santa Clarita Valley. The firm hired engineers to assist in the attack, drafted a complicated letter to preserve an exhaustion of remedies argument, and appeared before the District and the City of Santa Clarita to challenge the project. Coupled with a tremendous grassroots effort, the District succumbed to the pressure and withdrew a pending Environmental Impact Report from public review that ended the deep well injection project and caused the District to implement an alternative, less-intrusive, more environmentally-friendly solution.
